In this tutorial you will learn how to set up guides and columns in Adobe InDesign.
1. Create a new A4 document.

2. Make sure that "Show Guides" is on ("View, Grids & Guides, Show Guides"). Its on as a default.

3. Go to "Layout" and select "Margins and Columns...".

4. A new window will pop up. Here you can set the number of columns and the margins. Make suer that "preview" is checked so that you can see what you're doing.

5. When you're pleased with your result, press "Ok" to add the columns.

6. That's it for this quick introduction. If you want to use these colunms on more spreads, you can just right click on the spreads or a page in the "pages" tab to the right and click "Duplicate Spread". This will copy the spread and add new pages to the document.
