If you want to easily change the font style, color and attributes of a text box you should use the"Character Styles" menu in InDesign.
Create a new document in Adobe InDesign CS2.
Go to “Window – Type and Tables” and select “Character Styles”. Or simply press SHIFT+F11.

Press the “Create new style” button to… create a new style.

Double click the new style you just created to edit it.

In the first tab you can change the name and some attributes of the style. Change the name to “My first style”.

In the second tab you can change the basic font settings for your type. Change the font family to arial and set the size to 12 pt.

We’ll skip the third tab, and move on to the fourth.
In the fourth tab you can change the color and outline of the type.
Select the main color and change it to red.
Select the outline color and change it to black.

Play around with the other settings to figure out what they do.
When you’re done with your new style, click “Ok” to finish the editing.
With the new character style selected, create a new text box and start writing.
